Lough Conn Airfield is set in a rural area in North West Ireland. We are situated 2 mile south west of the town of Ballina in Co.Mayo. The airfield is run by a group of pilots and is fully usable all year round.
Established in 2007, Lough Conn is now one of the top grass airfields in the entire country and boasts an impressive all year round usable surface. In the past years the airfield hosted fly-in's for local cancer charities that were extremely successful and receives massive support from the local community and hopes to run many more in the future.
The airfield is set in un-controlled class G airspace, however there is controlled airspace to the east in the Knock airport region and also to the north east in the Sligo control area. Knock airfield can be reached on 130.70 mhz and Sligo can be contacted on 122.10 mhz for clearances and transits as well as an ATC service, both airports are very GA friendly. The airfield has dedicated facilities on site including a fitted mobile home, fuel runs are no problem and a lift into town can be arranged. Tea/Coffee always on tap !. We prefer if you obtain PPR by telephone so we know that you are around and we are open to any pilots who need to divert here for any reason. Visitors from northern Ireland or the UK need to file a flight plan & Irish general aviation report form if visiting us. We are a none designated airfield & a flight plan is mandatory to cross the FIR boundary into southern Ireland. If you view the "Airfield details" tab you can find the co-ordinates for the airfield, the runway dimensions, runway orientation, and the circuit pattern we advise everyone to use. The A/G radio frequency at the airfield is 123.450 mhz and is not always manned.
